Video Tour - Cabin

Weather update: snow! People have been asking to see more of the cabin, so here's a tour:

If you're wondering about all these posts, don't be overwhelmed, I'll be starting work tomorrow, so I won't have much time/energy to update. The altitude (9,000 ft.) is getting to me... I feel slightly dizzy, nauseated, and I'm out of breath walking the short distance to my cabin! I'm glad that they're letting me rest today, since tomorrow is the beginning of Spring Cleaning! We have 24 guest cabins on the ranch, and they all need to be scrubbed and polished for our first group of visitors coming mid-February. All the work teams except kitchen staff will be helping out during this week, so it should be a good bonding time :) I'm glad to have a week to familiarize myself to the layout of the ranch and its customs before the guests arrive. It's also a rare treat for the staff to hang out... when guests are here, we cater to them, and so have less time to socialize amongst ourselves. At least, that's what I've heard. The staff is wonderful, and from all over... one guy, Nate, is from New Zealand, and another girl (who should be arriving today, in the snow) is from England! Other staff are from Colorado, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Texas, Arkansas, Oregon, Missouri, Washington, Tennessee, and one other girl, Courtney, is from California... Burbank, to be specific. Hooray for California!

On a more personal note, I am feeling slightly overwhelmed with the altitude and cold temperatures, all the new faces, the new digs, and having a new waking/sleeping/eating schedule. I keep fighting the urge to go to bed and hibernate until the snow melts and the sun comes out again :) I've been in strange, new environments before, but there was always something familiar, whether it be friends/family that I'm traveling with, or being in a new school, but in an area that I'm familiar with. Like Desmond Hume, in the show, Lost, I always had a Penny nearby. Here, I am floundering without a constant. No nosebleeds or time traveling yet, hehe, though I do feel disoriented. But wait, what's this new thought that has appeared in my brain? On the way to my cabin, I can see through the front window of my neighbor, Molly, the HR director. Hanging from a wall, in a frame, are the words, "Be Still". A quick google search, and this verse comes to view:

Psalm 46

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way

and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

though its waters roar and foam

and the mountains quake with their surging.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,

the holy place where the Most High dwells.

God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.

Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth.

He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth.

He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire.

He says, "Be still, and know that I am God;

I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Ah, I think my constant has made itself known to me :)

  1. Nice tour, welcome to the world of vlogging :) Looks like you and the other 2/3 of the country got slammed by the snowstorm too...and they want you to work starting tomorrow? No rest for the weary, huh?

And amen to Psalm 46, one of my favorites too.
